Re: Nothing In Particular

I received the government red weather warning message on my phone last evening and we've had our hatches well and truly battened down overnight and this morning! No damage for me to worry about but lots of fences down in neighbours' gardens and lots of debris and detritus on the road.

I've been ...

Re: General health matters.

Thanks for all the kind words gents, they're very much appreciated.

I did a good hard ride on the static trainer last evening, up a virtual mountain, just to carry on as I mean...

Re: General health matters.

I had another appointment at the hospital today, to follow up on the recent PET-CT scan.

The bad news is that my Gleason score is 4+5 so only one step below the worst score and, in simple terms, indicative of the cancer being aggressive. The PET-CT scan has shown some cancer cells in the lymph ...

EAR834 Clone

I started work on putting the clone EAR834 phono stage together today, destined for my niece's vinyl system, eventually.

I've started with the chassis top plate, onto which everything will be assembled.

Re: General health matters.

Is the aversion to coffee hereabouts got summit to do with it affecting some health conditions?

I mean if Doc says so, then it's a no. But why?

For me it's quite simple; with the peeing in the night symptoms of my prostate situation one of the first things the GP asked was 'do you drink much ...

...First coffee beckons. Red bush tea tastes yuk. For people giving up coffee with no imagination.

I didn't like Red Bush tea when I tried it. I'm confused as to whether you're trying to give up coffee or caffeine? If the later, as I've said before, just buy some decent quality decaf coffee and ...

Re: My Niece's First Vinyl System

Thanks for the suggestion Greg, but it's going to be the EAR834, primarily because I have just about everything I need to build it in my spares 'box', so it'll be relatively cheap to put together. I'll be building it with the Thorsten Loesch mods.

I didn't suffer any adverse affects when I turned off the caffeine, it was really easy.

Re: General health matters.

No need to drop the coffee. Recent research shows that it’s very good for your gut.

I was advised to give up caffeine by my GP after the PSA results came back and my peeing has definitely improved since, and my head feels clearer.

I now drink good quality decaf ground coffee, usually black ...

Re: General health matters.

Maybe I'm fortunate too? My own GP health centre rates #12 in Somerset at 91.6% and my recent experience suggests they're doing a good job.

Re: My Niece's First Vinyl System

The journey continues, I've just taken delivery of a PCB and transformer to build an EAR834 phono stage clone, basically the same as this information and build video series.

Re: General health matters.

I'm booked in for a PET-CT scan on Friday afternoon - interesting technology. I have to avoid babies, pregnant women and small pets for a while afterwards - shouldn't be too difficult!

The scan will check for any secondary cancers and give them more information about the prostate, the two are of ...

Re: Colin (Toppsy) Rest In Peace

I have thought about offering to finish those speakers but given that the bit Colin did that was special was to a large amount the veneer I don't think any third rate finish would be a tribute.

I'm sure you're doing yourself a disservice, Nick, but i agree with the sentiment - completing them ...

Re: Colin (Toppsy) Rest In Peace

I was lucky enough to receive Colin's help with some of my projects and enjoyed a really good chin-wag with him at the last Owston meeting - he epitomised what's so great about Audio-Talk, friendship, generosity and a passion for great sounds. You'll be missed Colin.

Thoughts go out to Lynn and his ...
